Unique, Modular Design For Ultimate Customization

Easy-to-install gas block features an integral fixed rail and a modular design that allows fast installation and removal of up to three, additional Picatinny rails for mounting lasers, lights, night vision optics, back-up sights, and a variety of other tactical accessories. Side and bottom rails attach easily with two screws, so you can configure the unit for each mission’s requirements. Precision-machined from rugged, 6061 billet aluminum for superior strength without weighing down your weapon. Mounts securely to barrel with three, hardened steel setscrews.

Works as advertised !! (23.5.2010)

I purchased and installed the modular gas block when I first got my AR. I wanted to have a flip up/down front sight to partner with my removable carry handle's rear sight. Works great. Later I wanted more mounting ability so I purchased the removeable rails to mount on the block. They of course mounted properly, fine machined parts, couldn't be more please with the entire unit.

great design, poor materials (17.6.2011)

I purchased this gas block to attach a scope and a tripod to an m-4. the unit uses 2 10-32 screws to hold the 3 picatinny rails in place to the body of the gas block. i installed the screws with a drop of lock tight.i attached a tripod to the lower rail and away i went to the range. i cycled 200 rounds and looked down there was one of the hex head screws sitting on the deck. it had stripped out and took the soft aluminium threads with it. cant be tapped out and re-threaded. this was a poor value. the cost and installation of the unit. i just purchased a different unit plus that installation.
disappointed.

we got in the gas block - bayonet lug. went on great - fast, with a AR 15 roll pin starter. add 2 small drops of blue lock tight on all 2 or 4 Alin screws, to be safe!

Good but not great (30.12.2009)

Good design, good idea, but the metal is cheap...it'll do the job, just don't try and tighten the screws for the extra rails on very tightly...the metal screws stripped with just a little bit of tightening...If I had known that they were cheaply made I would have gone with a different gas block, but hind-sight is 50/50...

Have over 4000 rounds thought this gas block at a high rate of fire without one malfunction. Outstanding part, very useful.

Good but not great (18.6.2010)

This gas block slid forward on the barrel of my duty rifle under use. Like another reviewer noted, the threads on one of the rails stripped out. Brownell's outstanding service prevailed and they shipped a new part with no questions asked. If the set screws fail to hold the block in place again, however, I will return the part for good. It is held in place with only three set screws. I would have used more set screws if I had been the designer.

It's easy to install the gas block but it was not easy to remove the old gas block with front sight housing. On the video was it easy but it was'nt.
The old gastube is broken bij removing.
No trouble with the screws, little more than hand tight

Ok for now (16.7.2010)

I have installed it on my AR and it works. One of the draw backs is that I feel the housing is made out of a too soft aluminum. I am wondering how the gas port hole is going to hold up with this soft aluminum. I also stripped some threads installing one of the rails. I was using a torque wrench set at 15 in lbs to do this. I helicoiled the screw hole and everything is fine. I think all the screw holes should be helicoiled. Other than that, I think this is a good product.

Great design, terrible material choice (21.2.2016)

I purchased this kit for an upper build I was doing as a gift for a friend. The design is fantastic in its versatility but the choice of a low grade and strength aluminum (6061 or 2024) as the manufacturing material was wrong considering the limited length of threaded holes for both clamping to the barrel and attaching the picatinny rail sections. Both the clamping set screws and the screws for attaching rail sections stripped out without any effort and upon examining the screws for the rail sections the screws were only holding on 1-1/2 to 2 complete turns of the thread. Standard manufacturing practice is that when putting a screw into aluminum of any grade you must go twice the diameter of the screw in number of threads to properly hold.

As previously stated this is a fantastic design but would be better off if manufactured out of steel or titanium.
