I received this safety and had read the previous review on brownells about how it dropped right into a PT1911. This was interesting to me because I thought ALL safeties needed fitting. Well i received the part. The part is well made and almost looks exactly like the stock PT1911 safety, except it is single sided. Well, I just want to confirm... this safety DOES NOT require fitting for a Taurus PT1911. It drops right in.... trigger will not pull with safety engaged. No problems... nice snappy activation... great price.

Bought this my my stainless pt1911. The color and fit are spot on. Works like a charm. My stock ambi safety was starting to come lose on the right side so I figured this would be a nice fix. great price as well.

this seemed like a good buy for the price, sure looked good. i'm not exactly a gunsmith, but this definitely didn't drop into my 1911. haven't seen alot of reviews for use of anything in the remington r1 but of all the parts i purchased so far this was the only one i had any issue with. the pin broke off trying to aleviate the slight bend, maybe i got a bad cast or it's just the difference of the r1 but this didn't work for me.

After deciding I did not like the feel of an Ed Brown extended safety I had fit to my 1911, I decided to give this piece a try. Hey, for [$] what could I lose? To my surprise not only did this part require even LESS fitting than the Ed Brown part, but it feels great and works beautifully. Obviously as with any aftermarket 1911 part some fitting will be required, but this was almost too easy. The finish on the part is a little dull, and some cast marks can be seen, but a little polishing went a long way. Definitely recommended!

Most all of these ambi safeties need fitting, so that is no big deal. However once I was pretty much done fitting I began to function test and then refine the fit. Just when I had gotten it just about perfect, the little weak catch that connects the two ambi rods together snaps. Bare in mind you do not touch this connection at all. Total waste of time.
Very Good Ambi Safety(13.4.2016)
I have installed two of these safeties. One on a SW1911SC and one on a custom build. Both safeties functioned perfectly. I actually tighten the connector between the two pieces so that it is a snap fit. I have not had either safety break on me. I would recommend this safety based on the quality and the value.

Not a good replacement for ambi-safety(9.4.2011)
I purchased this intending to replace the ambi-safety on my Springfield "loaded with parkerized finish. I was looking for a single sided tactical safety that was low profile for concealment. This safe has a thumb lever that is wider and longer than the factory Springfield thereby defeating the purpose I was purchasing it for. This safety is advertised as one that is extended, tactical and good for concealment. The safety also has a shiny blue finish that doesn't look right. The safety lever flange is made of a thinner material than the factory unit so the contour bevel does not have the same appearance as the factory safety. I'm sure this safety is good for something just not a Springfield 1911-A1 Loaded with parkerized finish. I also noted that the detent contour is a different shape so I pretty sure that would require fitting in addition to the sear block which would be visible meaning need for re-bluing or not depending on your taste. I plan on returning this for either an EGW or Ed Brown unit.
Simple Ambi to Single Ended Conversion(25.6.2012)
I didn't want an ambidextrous safety so I installed this single ended safety on my Taurus PT1911. It's a good match in fit and finish and only required a little bit of stoning to install. This extension is a good compromise between ease of actuation and profile and it fits closely to the plunger tube.
